What is Geriatric???

I remember having a conversation with one of the twins sometime back and I asked her what posting you are doing now. She told me "Geriatric". I ask what is that .. and she told me to guess. Well we went round and round in a cricle and finally I found out it is treatment of people that are older in life.

Well.. when they warded by Dad at UH, guess which ward he was put under, "Geriatric". And all the people in the ward were I would say above 70+.

Since my Dad is out of the hospital and we wanted to bring him for a complete checkup. So I search around and found out that beside UH, Pantai is about the only other hospital that have this specialist. I mean if you want to give birth, take a look at your heart and probably any other problem all the other hospital have plenty of doctors.

I called up Pantai and it was either engaged or nobody answered the phone. Finally when someone did they passed me round and round. Gave me a number to call which was the line I call getting the engaged tone. Finally managed to talk to someone and left my number for them to call me back. I waited and commented to a few of my frens that probably the people dont want money never call me back.

Since it is my parent health that we are talking about, my sister and I agreed that we are going to drive out to Pantai trow and make a appointment. I think if it was any other matter we would have just forget it. Since it is for our parents, I guess we have not much of a choice.

Lucky at about 3 pm somebody did call me back from Pantai. I guess they do want my money after all. So made appointment for my Dad and Mom to have a complete checkup.

Status update on Condo

Took leave on Monday, in the hope that my condo will finally be ready. But found out that my granite top can't be in yet. Then all my things from Macy came, the curtains, the dinning table and bed. Then they were doing all the tiles also coz I had some hollow tiles. So everything was a mess. So this is status on my condo now.

My dinning table and chairs. Still not yet unwrapped coz the place still a mess.

My bed... with no mattress... so can I sleep on the hardboard.

The Macy boys that came to install my bed and dinning table was nice. They saw the mistake that i did for my bed side table. He ask me "you do yrself one ah ?" Trying not to look embarrass I said "yes", He say that it is wrong... I fix for you. hehe which he did.

They also fix up everything in my kitchen except the granite top and they drill in most of the Ikea stuff already.

Here is my breakfast nook and breakfast nook with Hoppy sitting on the stool.

The vendors in my place can't spell

I was in the service lift and some vendor try to offer their services with writing on the board. But they should take some spelling lesson.

I was in the lift with a kid and her mom, the kid ask the mom what did the board say. The word was pastor silin. Now who can guess what the vendor was selling. They also sell Kuching Cabinets.

There were also people offering Rori service and selling nespepper. What can I say... we need a spell checker in the lift.

Full Circle

Life is a full circle. When we are young our parents are the ones who take care of us. They are one who has to feed us, bath us, to things for us and worry about us. They are tells us do this, don't do that. Eat your food, Go and sleep now and stop talking. These are words that I am sure that every parent have utter to their child.

They are also the one who hold your hand while you walk to support you and make all your hurts be it emotional or physical go away. I am sure that they have worried about us when we don't come home and when we are away for any period of time.

After the incidents with my Dad.. I find that the roles have been reversed. We are ones that are telling him "Go and rest... eat your food... stop talking... " "Don't sweep the floor, don't mop the floor, don't cook"

We are one who hold his hand to help him walk the stairs or when he walks. Not that my dad can't do these things on his own. He can (Thank goodness) but it is just that we feel that he should be taking it easy. Not hopping around like a energizer bunny. hahaha

Take it easy Dad...Go sleep your normal 5 hours afternoon nap.

The engerizer bunny

Now we have a new nickname for my dad - the energizer bunny. He is so full of energy that I am abit worried about him.

When we came home from hospital, he was happy (which is good) and he and mom was doing as usual they chitter chatter. He was talking non stop. We told him slow down rest. He still continue to talk. My aunty helen and family (my dad sister) wanted to come and visit him, so we said fine. Then we thought that Dad should stay at home with one of us and we will buy back dinner for him. At about 5 pm, Dad shower and changed already to go out for dinner. Can't even tell him to stay at home. I was washing my car in the porch he was sweeping the floor. Aiyo... I told him please sit down and rest.

My aunty and family came, He was talking and talking. So full of energy.. Went to eat nearby. I try to hold him when he was talking he push my hand away. Aiyo..Talk and talk again during dinner. When we went back home told him go and sleep.

On Sunday... He got up abt 7 am (that was because we banned him from coming down at 4:30 am). He was as usual full of energy, my aunty and cousins came over and he was like going to the door and greeting people and talking and talking. Li Mae and parents came over and he was also all excited. He didn't even do his normal 3 - 4 hour afternoon nap. I went to condo and came back in about one hour he was up and about again.

Monday morning took him to UH again to do the blood test. Had to wait for the result so he ask me to bring him to a few places 1st. He WANTED to walk to car park which was like so far... I told NO NO NO, you sit here and be a good boy and wait for me.

Now we have a new nickname for him the energizer bunny or hoppy. My sister said maybe the dr gave him so hyper pill or something. I cant remember my Dad being so active since I think almost like 5 years ago. He like a completely new man..

Now I am worried coz that is doing too much too fast. He should be resting and taking it easy.. But then it like no use talking to him about it. Sometimes I wonder are we worrying for nothing !!! It is like he is not active than we worry, he is too active we also worry.

Now actually we told family and frens not to come and visit him. The reason being is that we do not want him to get excited and start talking so much. We want him to rest.

Dad Discharge

Dad checked out of the hospital on Saturday morning. One day later than what he was suppose to...

Saturday morning Jean and I went to the hospital.. we step out of the lift and had shock...the patients were all put in the corridor in front of the lift. We were wondering what happen and WHERE WAS OUR DAD ? We went searching for him in the room but found that they are washing all the floors in the room so that why they push all the patient outside. Finally we found our Dad at the end of the lift area. He look fine, said the doctor didn't come yet. We told Dad we go and have breakfast and then come back up to wait with him. Went to eat at deli france.

When we came back up the doctor was with him already. The doctor said that his sodium level is almost back to normal, therefore he can go home and that he has to come back for a blood test on Monday. We didn't really get a chance to talk to the doctor coz my dad was so excitied he was talking all the time. He just heard that he can go home.. he got so excitied. So started the dischrage procedure. Told him to sit and wait while my sister and I take care of the bill and discharge stuff.

He was so excitied... he change his clothes and ask us to take pic with him and my sister to comb his hair. We keep telling relax, slow down, dont get so excitied.

Here is a pic of him getting ready to leave

Picture of him with us

Anyway he was excitied that I had problem keeping him sitting at the ward while we ran around paying his bill and getting his med. Finally managed to get him to sit down and wait for the car.. so went home. Really home around lunch time.. so went out to get some food and he finish his whole bowl of hakka mee.
